Please join us in our growth efforts! There are more registered Democrats in Manheim Central than most people realize, and you can help us as we work to give them a voice and assist them in finding each other.
Become a Committeeperson
The success of our growth depends on long term participation and membership. We are always looking for civically-minded volunteers to become committeepeople. To become a committeeperson with us, you must live and be a registered Democrat in Manheim Central School District. There are two committeeperson seats in each voting precinct, and committeepeople are elected in the spring primary during midterm election years. They can also be appointed to vacancies in the interim.

There are both responsibilities and benefits to this role. We expect committeepeople to attend monthly meetings on third Thursdays of the month at 7pm, greet their neighbors at their polling places twice a year on Election Day, and participate in community events such as 1st Thursday in downtown Manheim. Committeepeople have the opportunity to vote when we endorse municipal candidates, and they have voting power when the county Democrats meet to endorse candidates every year. Donate to Our Committee
In today’s environment, with political donation requests flooding every inbox, you may be wondering why you should donate to us. We are a tiny organization and we rely on the dedication of volunteers. Every financial gift goes straight to our activities and helps us get our message to more people. We do not have a large budget, and we do a lot with a little. In the past, your donations have allowed us to join the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce, place an advertisement for local candidates in the Manheim Farm Show Booklet, and purchase Election Day supplies to maintain a presence outside all ten polling places in our district. We appreciate donations of any amount!

Contribute in Other Ways
If you’re not ready to become a committeeperson but would still like to volunteer with us, there are plenty of ways to get involved! Our meetings are open to the public, and you don’t have to be a committeeperson to attend a meeting and see what we’re about. Join a Subcommittee
As we grow, it is crucial to have folks sign up for temporary subcommittees that help us establish our presence. These subcommittees range from website building to social event planning and everything in between. If a need arises, we create a subcommittee to work on it! Join us at our meetings to find out more about participating in a subcommittee.
Join Us at 1st Thursday
Since 2024, we have been a member of the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce, and as part of our participation, we host a tent at 1st Thursday in downtown Manheim. We are always happy to have folks join us for 1st Thursday to set up, tear down, or drop in to hang out! The event is family friendly and our tables always include a children’s activity, as well as voting information. 1st Thursday happens on Market Square on the first Thursday of every month between April and October, from 5pm-8pm. Come out to see us!
Join our Social Events
One of our goals is to let registered Democrats in Manheim Central School District know that they are not alone. Keep an eye out on our calendar to learn about social events as we plan them! When the weather is nice, we gather at local eateries in Manheim, and we host a holiday party every year. Click the calendar link above to see our schedule!
Promote Candidates
Throughout election season, we need help getting the word out about our candidates! This is especially important in municipal election years. You can knock doors, make phone calls, or write postcards to voters. Any outreach helps, so choose an activity that you are comfortable with! Greet at the Polls
Do you have limited availability in your schedule? Perhaps you’d like to greet your neighbors at the polls! Every year, twice a year, election workers are hard at work making sure elections run smoothly. We staff Democratic greeters outside all ten polling places in case voters have questions about candidates running as Democrats. You can sign up for a few hours, or spend the whole day with us! Show Your Support
In the fall, we distribute yard signs to promote our candidates in our community. You can put a yard sign on your property to show support for Democrats running for office! Email Olivia at manheimcentraldems@gmail.com to express interest in a yard sign.
